B3: Pjotr Sapegin’s Madama Butterfly

The Pjotr Sapegin’s Madama Butterfly was a beautiful opera with a heart touching story. It began with a happy woman, in a calm, peaceful environment. She met a man, a sailor, who showed the woman happiness. They shared a moment of love and created a powerful connection. The way the scene was made felt so real and shows the true passion they had for each other. She laid there with the buttery on top of her head next to this new man who has entered her life. The sailor had left her soon after and as well as the butterfly. The butterfly symbolized hope and happiness for the woman. When the butterfly was with her she was happy but when it left , she felt sad again. As the days went by she felt lonely standing there waiting for something to happen. As she waits the music slowly increases but lets the audience know she's reaching for faith. She gave birth to a bird which turn into her new born baby. She received a gift from god that she has been waiting to come across. For once, she saw a light instead of waiting in the darkness. At this point in her life she is living life to the fullest connected with her new baby by an umbilical cord. When the sailor arrived after her baby was born he had watched her for days for her to only ponder and wait what could possibly happen next. After only having a little bit of happiness she had to come to the realization it was only a fantasy. The sailor took her baby away with another woman in a car full of children, she had lost it all. As soon as the empirical chord was cut she couldn't cope with the pain inside. He tore the baby off detaching the umbilical cord, leaving the woman with nothing. The music felt so connected to the plot of the story which makes it's so intriguing. When darkness was by the music would sense a storm coming, but the calm building up before it. When the woman is in a peaceful state of mind the music flows like she's in her happy place. When her baby gets taken from her, she knows she can't live this life anymore. She gives up. Piece by piece she tore apart her body into broken pieces just like her heart was. It was devastating seeing that her only bit of happiness she experienced was ripped away from her so fast. The story was so beautiful and sad, it showed the true meaning of life and losing all your happiness can tear you apart. It embraces to appreciate the little things in life because nothing lasts forever and it's not everyday we can receive the best gifts from what the world has to offer. I felt a huge connection with the character as the story progressed, I felt the pain in her and the music made it so real. People lose the things they love in life and thats why we cant take anything for granted but only appreciate the time we have with them.
