Expressing Life Through Body Art

I did my performance art based off of body art. I think using my body as a canvas was really exciting to not know what was being put on me, but knowing someones reflection of art was drawn on me. The technology of the project was paint, my body, and my computer used as a sign. On my computer I displayed a written message saying, "Express Your Perspective of Life on my Body🌞" I wanted people to embrace themselves on what they thought or felt about life. Some people did drawings and others wrote words. I really enjoyed interacting with my crowd, they were all pretty excited about drawing on my body as the canvas and embracing their own art on my body.

Performance Art is the act of presenting a live show. The Human Canvas portrays body gallery art. Artists cut and perform plastic surgery in front of an audience. The body of the canvas is a way to work with real human flesh, the blood is like the oil point of the canvas. Artists feel like doing this type of art work on people give them life, it is not a violent act and the body allow these artists to perform these experiments. It is a true beauty of art, and these people find beauty in their body being the canvas. During the performances, the audiences are prepared for the gore and expect to see plenty of blood. Body Paint Art at Kunststrasse was remarkable. The naked women get painted as a canvas of art by the artist. In the art museum they stand near paintings that connect to the paint on their bodies. It is so unique to see these people bring such passion and beauty to their bodies through artwork. It is misinterpreted to some people who just don't understand art or appreciate the beauty of it. Some could think these people are out of their minds or mental, but being able to embrace your body especially through paint or even hooks in your body is a work of art. Transfiguration was a performance by Oliver de Sagazan. He paints his body in silver and demonstrates body paint art but also distorts his entire face with hair. He makes himself appear as a monster and repeats the process of ripping his face and hair off and putting it back on with monstrous sounds. He then covers his entire face poking holes through it to create a new face. This piece of work was quiet insane!! I love every part of it, it was unusual and unique, something I've never seen before. Sagazan creates himself as a monster would could portray the reality of how humans view people. He continues to distort his face building layers upon layers, sculpting it and then attacking his own face, even to make it look like his eyes are bleeding. Each of these performances have related to one another. Not only do they include body art but they express their bodies with art. The creation of art comes from within, the creativity in your mind and the act of putting yourself out there giving it a try. The Human Canvas is the passion of art through hooks, needles, and surgery, while the Body Paint art is creating paintings on your body, and the Transfiguration reveals a distorted monster through art supplies. Each of these performances, the artists have been naked, like a blank canvas to the most intricate piece of art. They all express themselves from being just a blank body to anything and everything. Each and every one of them uses their body as a canvas all in different ways. Another important role these messages show is that color does not matter, we can all paint ourselves and do whatever to our body because we own our bodies. No one should have to tell anyone different. People have the freedom to express themselves however they want to look. I have such a strong passion for art and the body is such a beautiful way to portray it to society. Technology is not an essential component of these artists work. Of course if they would like to use audio, edit their work, or record it, the technology is not where the art exactly comes from. These three performances came from the individuals body, with metal hook, paint, and art supplies. In the field of Performance Art it is set to be a dramatic performance with visual art. Performance Art is giving the people a show around you, expressing yourself. Art does not only come from technology it comes from within a person, therefore it is not needed as an essential component of their work. Performance art, depending on the location, attracts large crowds which creates attention and excitement of interest people have in your work.
